Responsibilities:

Mission:
Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Education (BOE) and working with
the Director of Research and Development, the BOK shall further the
professional growth of the public assembly facility management industry
by developing resources to educate current and future public assembly
facility management professionals through innovative program development
to include, but not be limited to, research initiatives on current
trends / bench marks of the industry, college degree and distance
learning programs, and the publishing initiatives like the Public
Assembly Facility Management: Principles and Practices textbook and
other educational intellectual property..

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Structure. The BOK consist of the chair and (a) six
founding task force members as may desire continued involvement, (b)
four faculty, (c) four at-large representatives, and (d) the chair
of the BOE.
Works / Objectives:
1. Support Materials. Develop ‘Core Packs’ text materials and
instructional aids to include, but not limited to: case studies,
course syllabi, supplementary materials on CDs, Internet web-based
teaching resources such as website links, PowerPoint lecture
presentations with notes, and streaming video clips. Consider
on-line publishing of materials (on demand publishing), e.g., Lulu
Inc.
2. Universities. Oversee endorsement of university programs
in public assembly facility management to achieve the goals of
expanding use of the textbook in university classrooms and
increasing the number of universities that offer degree programs in
public assembly facility management at both the graduate and
undergraduate levels.
3. Academic Journal. Determine the feasibility of publishing
an IAAM-sponsored Academic Journal as a vehicle for obtaining
industry-related research of benefit to the membership and the
industry as a whole. Evaluate on-line publishing through companies
like Lulu Inc.
4. Text Book. Expand the ongoing review of the textbook to
internationalize and update the text in preparation of the Second
Edition. This review should include BOK members, IAAM
members/practitioners, university faculty using the text, and select
international members. Consider on-line publishing of text (on
demand publishing), e.g., Lulu Inc.
5. Research. Develop research data resources through member
survey tools. Identify and develop comprehensive industry research
projects for an ongoing research program and create a strategic plan
on how to initiate, implement, and fund said program.
a. Assess the needs of IAAM members and work to provide
programs, research and
products for fulfillment.
b. Identify the research process and methods that would
be involved with each project
and who might be most suited to
undertake these projects, as well as the length of
time each project might take to
complete.
c. Create a uniform set of variables so that each
project is scrutinized thoroughly while
ensuring the research
needs are member association-specific.
d. Justify the rationale and impact that the
research would yield.
e. Provide a cost/benefit analysis of each
project considering such facts as data
collection, statistical
process, and the expansiveness of the project.
6. Distance Learning. Support and assist the IAAM
Professional Development Department in development of distance
learning programs and in obtaining industry-related research.
7. Products Development. Provide technical input and review
for IAAM educational products as requested by staff, i.e., Video
training programs, Center for Venue Mgt Studies, Resource material
suggestions for complementing the physical and electronic collection
and catalog of product available for sale.
8. Intellectual Property. Assist in member publishing via
on-line publishing (on demand publishing), as may be established by
the Business Development Task Force (IAAM – Press), e.g., Lulu Inc.
