DIVERSIFICATION COMMITTEE
Roles and Responsibilities:


  Mission:

Reporting to Chair – Industry Affairs Council (IAC), the Diversification Committee facilitates the diversification of IAAM by providing educational resources, strategic planning, and outreach to under-represented groups within and outside of the Association. The Diversification Committee will strive to enhance the composition of the Association by embracing a broad spectrum of demographic and philosophical differences, and foster future development of a completely inclusive Association.
 

Definition:

Therefore, the IAAM defines diversity as all ways in which members differ to include personal attributes, values, and organizational roles.


 


Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Structure. The following positions shall be established / appointed to work with the President/CEO and World Headquarters (WHQ) staff in providing IAAM member-driven support: (1) Chair – responsible for overall coordination of committee strategy and agenda(s), (2) Vice Chair- membership (serves ex-officio on Membership Committee) – responsible to assist chair in coordination of membership issues. To facilitate empowerment, other sub-committees and chairs are encouraged where applicable. Vacancies should be filled no later than July 1, annually.

2. Membership. Work with staff in developing strategies and establishing benchmarks recruiting a diverse membership and reflecting a more diverse staff.

3. Professional Development. Work with Chair of the Professional Development Committee to identify non-traditional participants from both inside and outside the Association; review and recommend methods and programs that will address the future membership diversification and leadership goals of the Association.

4. Public Relations. Explore options and develop strategy on ways IAAM can present itself on diversity issues. Advocate for industry employment parity that reflects current Global workforce demographics.

5. Publicity. Work with IAC and WHQ staff (Marketing Manager) to promote the diversification activity of the Association, venue private management firms, and member recognition of notable achievements.

6. Meetings/Reports. Meets during Annual Conference & Trade Show at specified time(s) with a prepared agenda and thereafter a minimum of two occasions (fall and spring) via audio conference calls (assisted by WHQ). The Diversification Committee shall establish quantifiable, written goals for the term; Provide minutes of each meeting to committee and WHQ staff [Directors – Board Services; Sales and Marketing] and submit reports to Chair of IAC at specified times prior to mid-winter Board of Directors (BOD) meeting (December each year) and Annual Conference.
