Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Structure. The following positions shall be established /
appointed to work with the President/CEO and World Headquarters (WHQ)
staff in providing IAAM member-driven support: (1) Chair –
responsible for overall coordination of committee strategy and
agenda(s), (2) Vice Chair- (serves on Professional Development
Committee - PDC) – responsible to coordinate development of program
content for ICMC and Annual Conference; (3) Budget & Finance Rep -
(serves on Budget and Finance Committee) – responsible for
coordination of ICMC budgetary development (due each year by Oct 1
for FY beginning Apr 1) and ICMC financial forecast management using
current budget; (4) Sponsorship Rep - responsible for coordination
of ICMC sponsorship; (5) EAC Rep – (serves on External Affairs
Committee) – responsible for event publicity, promotion and
membership. To facilitate empowerment of committee development,
chair may appoint other sub-committees where applicable. Vacancies
should be filled no later than July 1, annually and assume role
following Annual Conference.
2. Advocacy: Monitor industry affairs and assist legislative
council in identifying appropriate issues germane to our
Association, industry partners and members, and the role IAAM should
take in formulating a public position on governmental, legislative,
and code issues that have an impact on the industry and submit
recommendation(s) to IAC for approval. Together with IAAM’s Legal
Counsel, monitor and identify federal and state legislative
activities and government agency actions that may affect IAAM
members.
Recommend the drafting, by Legal Counsel, of position
papers on specific advocacy
issues, and following approval, the
position papers may become IAAM’s statement of
record.
Ensure the communication of public advocacy issues to
the IAAM membership
through the web site, articles,
meetings and seminars.

3. ICMC. Develop programming content and produce an annual
event, targeted at arena professionals, for International Crowd
Management Conference (ICMC). Work in conjunction with the IAAM
Meetings Department with coordinated input from the IAAM Director of
Education and the Professional Development Committee (PDC), to
provide strong educational content in accordance with IAAM
Conference standards and policies (manual provided). Include
interests of local Host Committee, Diversification Committee,
Universities Committee, and Allied Committee with coordinated
solicitation of sponsorships with IAAM staff utilizing sponsorship
guidelines (guidelines provided). Provide recommendations of
Committee to Meetings Manager for future conference sites for
advance booking. Key: Chair, VC, B&F Rep.
4. Annual Conference. Develop ICMC Committee's portion of the
program for the Annual IAAM Conference and Trade Show with the IAAM
Meetings Department and Annual Conference Planning Committee with
input from the IAAM Director of Education, PDC, and all other
appropriate committees. Assist in facilitation of booking agency
involvement. Key: Chair, VC
5. Meetings/Reports: Meets during annual conference and trade
show at specified times with a prepared agenda and thereafter a
minimum of two occasions (fall and spring) via audio conference
calls (assisted by WHQ). Provide minutes of each meeting to
committee and WHQ staff [Director – Board Services] and submit
reports to Chair of LSC at specified times prior to mid-winter Board
of Directors (BOD) meeting (December each year) and Annual
Conference each year. Prepare recommendations to fill committee
responsibilities for IAAM 1st VP by April 1 each year. Key: Chair,

6. Communication: Communicate with allied industry
associations to promote mission of IAAM and seek industry liaisons
in areas of common interest or issues; other participation in allied
industry meetings and panels. Key: Chair, Allied
7. Articles. Provide articles [via – WHQ Editor] with Crowd
Management perspective for Facility Manager relative to Operations &
Events as requested by WHQ staff. Provide information on Crowd
Management industry for IAAM E-News to communicate issues with
membership constituents. Key: VC, EAC
8. Public Relations: Explore options and develop strategy on
ways IAAM can present itself on issues of facility management,
industry relations, growth and development on the following:
Provide assistance and guidance to staff in the
methods and content in
communicating our Association’s
vision and mission to members, the industry at
large, and the stakeholders
(investors, regulators, owners, and the general public).
Assist staff in determining where and methods on how
IAAM should advertise and
market its service in the most
economically and efficient manner.
Oversee adherence to sponsorship program standards
and make recommendations
of modification.
Maintain an open relationship between the Association
and venue private
management firms for public
relations and public advocacy activities
9. Publicity: Promote activity of the Association, venue
private management firms and member recognition of notable
achievements, public relations,
and public advocacy activities.
Serve in advisory capacity to WHQ staff on methods to
enhance content,
presentation, distribution and
circulation of IAAM’s principle publication (Facility
Manager).
Collaborate with staff on ways to expand use of the
Web in the presentation of our
publications and information to the
media, as well as our products and services to our
membership and potential users
Works / Objectives:
1. Develop program for the annual International Crowd Management
Conference with the IAAM Meetings Department and coordinate input
from the IAAM Director of Education, Research & Development,
Professional Development Committee, faculty-specific committees,
Diversification Committee, Allied Committee and local host
facilities. Coordinate solicitation of sponsorships with IAAM
Headquarters and sponsorship guidelines.
2. Actively participate, as a member of the Life Safety Council, to
promote IAAM's mission and seek industry liaisons in areas of common
interests or issues.
3. Provide recommendations of Committee to Meetings Manager for
future conference dates and sites for advance booking.
4. Develop Crowd Management Committee's portion of the program for
the Annual Conference & Trade Show with the IAAM Meetings Department
and coordinate input from the IAAM Director of Education and
Research, Professional Development Committee, Diversification
Committee, and other program groups.
5. Provide articles for IAAM E-News and Facility Manager as
requested by the Director of Communications or as required
communicating issues with membership as well as articles to allied
industry publications.
6. Assist IAAM staff in marketing ICMC to colleges, universities,
high school sports administrators, attorneys, insurance companies,
professional teams and professional and amateur sports leagues.
7. Work with staff, the Allied Committee, and the facility-specific
chairs to identify potential sponsors of the ICMC; and to expand the
ICMC to other emergency management groups and increase the
prospective meeting attendee’s database.
