INTERNATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE
Roles and Responsibilities:


  Mission:

Assess the global status, future and interests of the public assembly industry with a primary focus on advancing IAAM’s brand, products, services, programming, expertise, Infrastructure and support of IAAM’s World Headquarters through collaboration with such interested parties, governments and like associations that these interests may serve to provide a need and to improve the professionalism of the public assembly industry worldwide.

Further, the ISC will seek to assess, better understand and enhance services to our international members.

The ISC will work with the membership committee and the IAAM membership department to develop a marketing strategy and campaign to increase our international membership.

 


Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Structure. Reports to the Chair of the Industry Affairs Council. The following positions shall be established / filled to work with the President/CEO and World Headquarters (WHQ) staff e.g., Board Services, Membership and Marketing, Sales and Services in undertaking these initiatives: (1) Chair – responsible for overall coordination of committee strategy, establishing political, business and social liaisons and setting agenda(s), and, (2) Vice Chair – responsible for coordinating research and data collection. ISC member Ambassadors shall serve in the following categories; (A) Americas ISC Ambassadors – responsible for coordinating research and data collection North, Central and South America (B) European ISC Ambassador(s) – responsible for coordinating research and data collection Europe, (C) Asia ISC Ambassador(s) – responsible for coordinating research and data collection Asia, (D) Australia ISC Ambassador(s) – responsible for coordinating research and data collection Australia (E) Africa ISC Ambassador(s) – responsible for coordinating research and data collection Africa.

2. Leadership. As the acknowledged leader, our role on the world stage is shifting. This new paradigm demands that we provide an opinion on world affairs that affect our industry, such as the work done by our Life Safety Council with the Department of Homeland Security, our humanitarian efforts and aid provided through the Shelter Management Task Force and the recent Cyclone Larry that struck Australia. The ISC will serve to provide a voice on the world stage for our industry, write articles, be an advocate for our humanitarian efforts, and continue to identify, develop and build partnerships with other like-minded organizations and/or agencies.

3. As the ISC goes about its work to conduct research, collect data and assess the needs of the world market as it pertains to providing public assembly products, services, educational programming, expertise, Infrastructure and administrative support services this data should also include, but not be limited to; The numbers of events that are hosted annually in the industry, the economic impact of such events, number of events by event and venue type and collect other data such as the costs to build such facilities, products used, services and energy, the growth rate of new facilities, the needs or over saturation of same and the life expectancy of each facility type.

4. The International Steering committee will assess resources available and return on investment. IAAM has already developed many of the products and services currently being sought in the global marketplace and can be remolded and packaged to serve specific interests internationally as well.


5. Meetings/Reports. Meets during Annual Conference & Trade Show at specified times with a prepared agenda and thereafter a minimum of two occasions (fall and spring) via audio conference calls (assisted by WHQ). Provide minutes of each meeting to committee and WHQ staff [Directors – Board Services; Sales and Marketing] and submit reports to Chair of IAC at specified times prior to mid-winter Board of Directors (BOD) meeting (December each year) and Annual Conference.
