NFPA
Roles and Responsibilities:


  Mission:

Represents IAAM on the NFPA Safety to Live Technical Committee - is responsible for the development of Educational and Assembly Occupancies of the Life Safety Code (portion of the U.S. national fire code dealing with public assembly occupancies). Positions consist of a delegate and an alternate, and candidates must be approved by NFPA.

 


Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Attend all meetings of the NFPA Committee or arrange for alternate (required to maintain seat on committee).

2. Inform membership of activities of NFPA pertaining to IAAM, through IAAM e-News or other publications/communications.

3. Solicit information and advice from facility specific committees and/or Allied members on issues to be considered by NFPA.

4. Provide resource for information to assist membership in obtaining documents from NFPA and resolving issues regarding fire code compliance.

5. Promote IAAM to NFPA as a resource for future code development advice.

6. Assist PDC, LSC, other facility specific conferences, and the Crowd Management Conference in programming requirements as it may relate to NFPA current and/or pending Life Safety Code issues.

7. Provide recommendations to the IAAM Board and, as appropriate, Executive Committee regarding current and/or pending code adjustments to the NFPA Life Safety Code in which IAAM should take a position.

8. Will sit on IAAM’s Life Safety Council (LSC) and make regular reports through the Council Chair of activities regarding NFPA Life Safety Code.
